We are a Warm and Welcoming Conservative Congregation In Pepper Pike, Ohio
Rabbi Joshua Jacobs
Assistant Rabbi Joshua Jacobs
Rabbi Joshua Jacobs joined B’nai Jeshurun Congregation in 2023. He received his undergraduate degree from Emory University and his rabbinic ordination from the Ziegler School, during which time he became a Wexner fellow. Born in Los Angeles, he pursued writing for television, only to learn that each episode he wrote was a thinly veiled d’var Torah. He is especially passionate about the power of text study and divrei Torah to “comfort the agitated and agitate the comfortable” through deep and timeless Torah. He co-authored a chapter on Jewish approaches to end-of-life practices for a medical publication. At B’nai Jeshurun, he leads justice initiatives including sustainability, food insecurity, and criminal justice reform. He helped revive “The Sunshine Committee,” which facilitates social gatherings for senior members to help alleviate loneliness. He is rabbi for “The Bridge,” Cleveland’s Jewish young professionals group, and founded a newlyweds group called “Beshert.” He is married to his beshert, Rabbi Alex Rosenbaum. They are proud parents of a daughter, Noa, and a shepherd-mix, Tula.

Ariela Sharon Yomtovian is leading a storytelling workshop! Hide and Seek, a journey into the story of Adam and Eve, is a 6 part series, open to all, that will explore how we interact with Jewish text. Our time will be spent getting to know the story's characters and observing the way we relate to them. When we gather, we will focus on the way we connect to the text and why. We will use various art mediums to reveal aspects of the story and of ourselves that we may have not noticed before. The hope is that everyone who participates walks away with a new perspective on the story of Adam and Eve and with a whole bag of helpful resources to use when engaging with other Jewish sources. -
