Our Cemeteries
In our Jewish tradition, the manner in which we remember the dead is the truest measure of the quality of life. At our cemeteries, this tradition is the hallmark of how we care.
Committed to this belief, B’nai Jeshurun Congregation owns two cemeteries. Glenville Cemetery was dedicated in 1875 and is one of the oldest Jewish cemeteries in Cleveland. Chesterland Memorial Park was dedicated in 1973, and is known for its peaceful, park-like setting. In addition, B’nai Jeshurun has sections in Bet Olam Cemetery and Zion Memorial Park.
Members of B’nai Jeshurun Congregation have the opportunity to purchase rights to plots in any of our four cemeteries. There is a deep and abiding satisfaction in the knowledge that by providing in advance for this inevitable need, you have forever freed your family from the emotional and financial pressures surrounding an emergency purchase.

Shabbat, Oct 12th 11:00a to 1:00p
Discussion for adults following Yizkor (approx. 12:30 pm) Ella Caspi, Cleveland's community shlicha (emissary from Israel) arrived in Cleveland on Oct. 6th, 2023. In her words: “I have dreamed of being a shlicha since I was 16 years old and was so excited to come to Cleveland that I arrived on Friday, Oct. 6 instead of staying one more day to attend the music festival in the south of Israel on Oct. 7 [as I had originally planned]. That was the festival targeted by Hamas. I lost three childhood friends in that attack. I cannot put into words the feeling when you see a horrifying image of someone you know being kidnapped or found dead. My homeland, my Israel, is changed forever. But during this darkness, I found a beacon of hope right here in Jewish Cleveland. I’m so deeply appreciative of the love and comfort that has surrounded me in Cleveland since the terrorist attack and in awe of the strong commitment this community has for Israel.” -
