CELEBRATING ISRAEL AT 75

In April 2023, Israel will be celebrating 75 years of Statehood! To celebrate this important milestone in our lives, B’nai Jeshurun will be celebrating Israel at 75 all year long. Stay tuned for more information on the events and initiatives as they are released. We can’t wait to celebrate with you. Throughout Israel at 75, we will be spotlighting members to hear about our personal connection to Israel. What’s your Israel story? Share it with us to be featured in an upcoming issue of Tidings, on social media and around B’nai Jeshurun.

Israel at 75 co-chairs:

Zehava Galun: For me, Israel is home. I proudly served in the IDF. Tel Aviv is like my second home and I know it like the back of my hand. I’ve had the opportunity to celebrate many simchas in Israel. If you’ve never celebrated a wedding in Israel, you’re missing out on something special. My family is very connected to Israel, so much so that my son Benjamin made Aliyah.

Adam Hirsh: I most recently traveled to Israel in 2018 with the Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s Israel at 70 Mission. We started in Tel Aviv for JFNA’s General Assembly, followed by an amazing week touring Israel. A highlight of the trip for me was visiting Beit Shean, Cleveland’s partnership city, and seeing first-hand the impact of Cleveland’s partnership in their community. I’ll never forget our Shabbat in Jerusalem as it was the same day as the Tree of Life shooting in Pittsburgh. We all learned about the tragedy as we walked to spend dinner with a Holocaust survivor. That tragedy united us all together as we mourned for our community from the holy city of Jerusalem.
