Join us for a discussion in which Bernard-Henri Levy’s remarkable book, Israel Alone, is a jumping off point for a larger conversation: October 7, the stubborn existence of modern-day Amalek, the role of the West - and the Jewish community’s own responsibility for combating antisemitism. Reading Levy’s book is encouraged, but everyone will be able to dive into this essential discussion. Levy is one of France’s leading public intellectuals. As a war correspondent and political activist, he could be justly labeled a political philosopher, one who passionately advocates the use of moral political power in support of the powerless. A proud, Sephardi Jew, born in French Algeria and raised in France, he has unapologetically criticized antisemitism of the left and the right. His newest book, Israel Alone, is a brief (146 page), stark treatise on the world’s anti-Israel double standard. The day after October 7, he was in Israel, bearing witness to Hamas’ pogrom, and to Israelis’ pain - and their resilience.
Please contact librarian Dr. Rafi Simon if you would like a copy of the book.
