Youth Opportunities

At B'nai Jeshurun, we strongly support the experiences our youth can receive at Jewish summer camps and through our youth groups and clubs. Please see below to learn more about the opportunities we offer:

SUMMER CAMPS

One Happy Camper Grant:

Summers at Jewish overnight camp turn Jewish youth into spirited and engaged Jewish adults, laying the groundwork for strong Jewish communities. The Foundation for Jewish Camping aspires to elevate the field of Jewish camp, conferring proper recognition and granting appropriate support to expand its impact across our community, so that camp can be a critical element of every Jewish young person's education.

Through the Foundation for Jewish Camping: One Happy Camper and the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, we are able to provide a scholarship up to $1000 for first time campers attending Jewish overnight camps*

*Please visit www.onehappycamper.org to find a list of qualifying camps as well as ages of eligibility.

B'nai Jeshurun congregation is committed to helping it's members have the incredible experience of attending Jewish overnight camp. In conjunction with the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, Leah Polikoff has been hired to help B'nai Jeshurun families not only find the right camp for their children but will help facilitate the scholarship process.

Leah grew up in Cleveland, Ohio as a member of Congregation Beth Am. As a child, she attended Camp Ramah in Canada for six summers and participated in Ramah Seminar in Israel. Leah returned to Cleveland in March of 2011 with her husband and three children; her oldest just spent his first summer at Camp Ramah in Canada.

CAMP RAMAH IN CANADA
www.campramah.com

Ramah is more than just a summer camp. Ramah is a total experience whose impact lasts well beyond the summer months. Young people at Ramah develop skills and leadership, close friendships and Jewish consciousness that lasts a lifetime. Camp Ramah in Canada is located in the beautiful Muskoka Region of Central Ontario, just two hours north of Toronto. The natural beauty of the setting is combined with a full complement of camping facilities. Camp Ramah in Canada draws campers from Ontario, Quebec, Michigan, Ohio, Upstate New York and Western Pennsylvania.

Camp Ramah in Canada accepts campers ages 8 to 16. Campers currently in grade 2 are accepted for the Taste of Ramah camping experience. Campers currently in grades 3 to 8 are accepted either for a one-session camping program or for the full summer. Teenagers in grade 9 & 10 participate in full season camping.

Ramah also offers a six-week Tikvah program for campers with developmental disabilities who want to share in the full Ramah experience.
All campers must be actively involved in Jewish study throughout the year. Ramah is an active, creative experience in Jewish living. Jewish values underlie a concern for each individual and for the development of a warm spirited community.

CAMP WISE
www.campwise.org

Camp Wise provides a friendly, supportive, and cooperative atmosphere that fosters individual growth at each camper’s own pace. Campers are encouraged to learn new skills and master old ones, to make decisions, to take responsibility, to be expressive, to live with others, and to have fun. Complemented by our Jewish environment, campers develop a deeper understanding of and appreciation for Jewish heritage and traditions while also developing a true sense of community. Camp Wise is committed to making sure that every camper leaves with a greater sense of self-esteem and self-confidence; and with memories that will last for a lifetime.
