    This year our honorees are Susannah and Avery Cohen, Gena and Ethan Cohen, Adam Cohen and Dorit and David Seed. The evening begins with a reception at 5:30 pm followed by an Israeli-style dinner. The guest speaker will be Alice Golembo, grandniece of Golda Meir and a professional actress.

    Kristallnacht Community-Wide Commemoration

    The Night of Shattered Glass.
    Remembering 70 years later.

    Sunday, November 9 from 3:00 - 4:30 pm at Congregation Shaarey Tikvah, 26811 Fairmount Boulevard.

    Co-sponsored by area agencies, organizations, congregations and individuals with the support of the Jewish Community Federation of Cleveland.


    Sukkot Happenings

    Sukkah Raising
    Sunday, October 12 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
    Decorate the B'nai Jeshurun sukkah and enjoy a pizza lunch. Bring your own decorations or help make some at the event! $4 per person.

    Sukkah Hop Wednesday, October 15 following the morning service.
    Join us at our annual Progressive Sukkah Luncheon on the second day of Sukkot at the homes of Rabbi Stephen and Naomi Weiss, Rabbi Hal and Erika Rudin-Luria and Cantor Aaron and Sabrina Shifman. There is no charge for lunch.

    Mishpachot Sukkot Dinner, Thursday, October 16 from 5:45 - 7:15 pm. Join families with young children up to age 7, and their older siblings for hot dogs, veggie burgers and s'mores in the B'nai Jeshurun sukkah. Celebrate Sukkot with fun, games, activities and more!

    Cost: $5 per person, toddlers under 2 free

    USY Pizza in the Hut and Cosmic Bowling (9th - 12 grade) Saturday, October 18 from 8:00 - 9:30 pm at B'nai Jeshurun Sukkah. Bus ride to Cosmic Bowling: pick-up at B'nai Jeshurun at midnight. $10 members/$15 non-members. RSVP to Dan Bardenstein

    Men's Club Sukkah Competition
    Participate in a contest where everyone's a winner! Judges will visit your sukkah the afternoon of Sunday, October 19th. The awards dinner will be held Friday, November 21st. To register your sukkah, please call the synagogue office by October 16th. This is a free event!

    Kadima Sukkah Party & Progressive Dinner, Sunday, October 19 (for 7th & 8th grades) Contact Dana Blocker for the scoop at the synagogue office.

    TOFUSY Dinner in the Sukkah
    at the home of Ines and Daniel Ades
    Sunday, October 19 at 5:30 p.m.
    Deli dinner, schmoozing and fun! RSVP to the synagogue office by October 10th. Please reserve early; space is limited. Cost is $15 per person. TOFUSY is Too Old for USY (40's to 60's)

    Adult B'not Mitzvah and
    New Member Celebratory Shabbat

    Cantor Aaron Shifman's Adult B'not Mitzvah class will lead the Festival Service on Shabbat Sukkot, October 18. Please join the congregation in celebration as Sherry Miller, Beth Simon, Edith Goldstein, Ellen Shefner and Eve Phythyon daven the Shabbat morning service, as well as chant from the Torah and Haftorah. You are invited to be their guest at a Congregational Luncheon following the service.

    During the morning service we will officially welcome our new members. New members will have a group aliyah and a booklet will be distributed with brief bios.


    Tiny Treasures Shabbat

    Join us on Shabbat morning, October 25, for a special aliyah honoring all the babies who have been born to our members during the past year. Each family will receive a special gift. No RSVP required.


    Kosher Food Drive

    Between Selichot and Simhat Torah, we ask each family to bring non-perishable, kosher food to the synagogue for our collection. Bins are located in the Gross Atrium and school entrance. All food will be donated to the kosher food pantry at Zemach Zedek.


    Weingold Academy and Guest Scholar

    The Weingold Academy is back with something for everyone! Classes begin on Thursday, October 30 and will run through November 20. Each evening consists of two 50-minute classes. The cost is $30 for one class and $40 for two classes. Registration is open to the community.

    We are pleased to welcome Rabbi Naomi Levy, our Weingold Guest Scholar October 31-November 2. Rabbi Levy is the founder and spiritual leader of Nashuva, a Jewish outreach organization involved in drawing unaffiliated Jews back to Judaism. Please join us that weekend for Life Under Construction.
